With thanks mostly to Nicholas Breeze Wood the editor of Sacred Hoop magazine, and also to his wonderful contributors, there are available a number of articles on shamanism and animism. Recently released is the free Sacred Hoop magazine which is an introduction, and there are also many articles, below. They can all be shared, so

An invocation to shame
May the spirits and Gods of healthy shame Rise in our name May we know that our actions ripple with consequence And that we connect to all, and are connected with all May we know when our actions harm others, by accident or by design May we feel shame when that happens. May our communities
A blasphemy, a provocation
Causal planes, high vibrational states Ascended realms, sacred geometric forms That birth this world, and your perception Yes? It’s where we’re told to put our attention, But I’m not so sure that the new age culture That’s but a slight variation of the Abrahamic dualism Has it quite right. You see, where you put your
How to help someone straddling the line between spiritual awakening and psychosis
I wrote this for a particular FB group but I’m sharing this on my blog, as I think it’s something that needs to be known very widely: the advice people too often give to someone who – even according to general lay-knowledge of psychology, might be psychotic – is quite scary. The short version is:
Eat your spiritual vegetables!
(Caveat: I often find call out culture annoying because it ignores how quickly change actually happens – it’s always gradual, never instant. Lessons from Gandalf on visualisation and protection
I love how fantasy often taps into spiritual truth. This scene reminds me of what I think of as the fallacy of ‘spiritual thinking’ – the idea that by thinking about something briefly, that you’re causing it to happen spiritually. People do this a lot when it comes to clearing stuck energy, balancing chakras, grounding,
A healing path
Sometimes I get asked about my spiritual influences and traditions, as a way of understanding the what and how of my path. Whilst I’m happy to share about my background, I encourage viewing all traditions and modalities and approaches as storehouses of wisdom. There are truths to be found everywhere (although different truths are emphasised in
The Work is violent
I loved ‘Loving what is’ by Byron Katie. I’ve read the book many times, and what she wrote helped transform me. I recommend that book without hesitation to anyone who wants to detach from their stories, to develop equanimity, and otherwise purify aspects of their mind/ego/perceptions etc. All approaches, all tools, all philosophies, are useful.
